Hair Conditioners

Hair conditioners are Hair Care Products to be used after washing your hair with shampoo. They are known as Cream Rinses for Moisturizers. The very name indicates that it helps to retain the moisture in the hair. Hair Conditioners help to improve the texture and appearance of the hair. It also helps to improve the health of the scalp.
Various conditioners help to improve the texture and appearance of the hair in different ways.
The Moisturisers help to retain the moisture in the hair.
The Reconstructors strengthen it
The Acidifiers soften the scaly surface
The Detanglers coat the hair with Polymers
The Thermal Protectors give protection from heat (from blow drying)
The Chemicals in Glossers will give a shiny look to the hair surface.
The Oils help to condition the dry hair
The pack conditioners are very thick and are to be applied for a long time to protect the hair.
The leave-in conditioners can be applied to the hair after wash so as to leave a thin layer on the hair follicles.
The ordinary conditioners combine all the above aspects for normal hair and can be used daily.
The Hold Conditioners help the hair to retain the desired shape.
The Hair conditioners are made of 97 per cent Keratin (a protein). It contains negatively charged Amino Acids and Cationic Surfactants. The conditioners do not wash out completely because of the presence of Keratin.
The conditioners contain various oils or lubricants like fatty acids, panthenol or dimethicone. Some of the conditioners contain anti static agents to prevent static electricity, and sequestrants to help them work better in hard water. At times preservatives are added to conditioners to enhance its shelf life.
A typical home made hair conditioner can be made by mixing two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice with 8 ounces of water. Use it after shampooing. Positive change can be noticed in the appearance of the hair after the second wash.
