Make-up Tips for Prom Night
If you took a quick survey of what is one of most important days in a teenager’s life prom night would get a good number of responses right next to graduation and their 16th birthday. Grand plans are made. The right dress needs to be picked out. The perfect hairstyle needs to be fashioned. The right makeup and the right date also need to be decided on. Plans are made months in advance so that you have the most perfect prom memories to last the rest of your life.
The weeks and days before the prom are so crazy; you’ll be dizzy before you know it. To make things easier, we've compiled the top beauty musts for prom. If you live by these, we guarantee you won't look drab, boring or too much like your regular, everyday self for this year's prom.
Start off with a natural looking base with a matte effect if you have oily skin or try a glossy effect for dry skin. Pick a tone that complements your skin's undertone and is a shade darker or lighter depending on the kind of coverage you want. Remember looking your age will make you look more beautiful.
Use colors on your eyes that make them twinkle up and not make you look like you just woke up. Oceanic blues, champagne beige, sage, pink, violet, warm browns and coppers look nice as base shades but always remember subtly. Once you are through applying the shadows, use double doses of transparent waterproof mascara.
Apply a modest amount of blush. It’ll give you a flushed look that all the other girls will be trying to get. If you have a cool complexion then use a rosy colored blush and for warm complexions bronzed blushes look fabulous.
Since you only have one senior prom your whole life, the day is special so of course you can use that lip color you've always wanted to try but were too timid to. Matte lip colors will balance the make-up on your face. Just be aware that glossy lip shades will reflect light and spoil photographs.
Your hair style should compliment your dress. Generally tied up buns and braids look very dressy and excellent with prom queen tiaras but shiny long hair with curls are very graceful and sort of princess like. The key is choosing the right style for your face and dress.
You can add a variety of different accessories to your hair and your outfit and dress up your entire ensemble. A brooch on a plain evening gown and a clutch bag will look infinitely high end.
Whatever amount you invest in shoes and bags this time will be worth it all. Just stay with the classics so that they are always in vogue.
Carry a shawl in case it’s gets a little chilly. A pretty shawl can do all the magic you are hoping for your look. If you watch the red carpet carefully you'll find many a celebrities parading about with chic stoles and shawls.
Do not forget about that pedicure and a manicure! A visit to the salon is must.
On the big day, just relax and take it easy. Do not indulge in any shopping and running errands. Take a long luxurious bath and eat light meals through the day before the party.
